Annual General Meetings have a reputation for being a shade dull – but never is that the case at the League of Friends of South Petherton Community Hospital AGM. Far from it!

Matron Heather Ancill provided an awesome account of the work undertaken by her NHS colleagues across the pandemic. We also learnt about the many contributions that have been made by the League of Friends over the year – including, most recently, a patient transfer slide with integrated weighing scale. According to Matron, this slide is a game-changer for the hospital and is already benefitting patients and staff significantly.

Dr Paull Robathan, Chair of the League, led the audience through key aspects of the charity’s constitution and provided the annual accounts. He also explained the new integrated approach adopted by the NHS in South Somerset, and was positive about the future healthcare opportunities it could enable. This is really encouraging and the League of Friends team is here to play our part.
