The donations that we receive are used to improve the experience of patients and staff in all sorts of ways. We are delighted to announce that we are supporting a brand new pathway for women who experience post-menopausal bleeding, by funding a gynaecological examination couch. Women will now have a more comfortable examination and clinicians will benefit from an improved view of the area that needs examining.
Currently women experiencing post-menopausal bleeding will need to go to their GP. If the GP has concerns they will be referred to receive an ultrasound scan and examination. Unfortunately, as things stand, there are significant delays in the system. The new pathway aims to dramatically reduce the wait to diagnosis.
The couch will improve the experience of both patient and clinician – which is wonderful.
The couch will be used within South Petherton Community Hospital’s Outpatients Department.
